For a quick comment: thermal printheads use heat "thermal" to create bubble to push the ink out the nozzle. While Piezo printheads use an electrical charge to cause the piezoelectric crystal to change shape and push the ink out the nozzle. The former has some disadvantage in control the bubbles' direction of motion, but the latter can be effectively controled by electricity.
